Meet Our Team

Richard W. Janecka, MSE, Owner

Richard has always been very self-motivated. Before opening Sign Crafters in 1995, he co-owned a successful car audio and security business. As part of this operation, Richard learned how to blow neon tubing to incorporate those pieces into custom stereo installations. He then separated from the car audio and security business to learn the sign craft on a full-time basis. Starting with a small area in his father-in-law’s garage in Mission Valley, Richard built his first neon station and started perfecting that skill. The first big neon job was for Roger’s Pharmacy at Rio Grande St. With that job completed, Richard invested into his first computerized equipment, an Ioline 24-inch plotter, and a dozen or so rolls of Banner Cal vinyl. At this time, he was working from his own home in downtown Victoria. Slowly, he grew his business and rented his first shop on Water Street. He outgrew that shop rather quickly, and moved into the current facility at 406 W. Water Street in 2001. Throughout the years he has added production equipment bit by bit. His attention to detail, drive for perfection, and quality fabrication are present in all jobs. Being the shop owner and holding the master sign electrician license, insures the longevity of the company in the knowledge that all sign installs – large or small – are completed according to National Electric Code as well as state and local ordinances.

Richard serves on the Adjustments and Appeals Board for the City of Victoria. He is a volunteer for the Victoria Livestock Show and a former Kiwanis member.

Robin Janecka, Office Manager & Graphic Designer

Robin began working with Richard in 2000 after the birth of their second son. Also very creatively minded, Robin learned the design software programs in order to diversify the sign business by offering business cards, promotional items, apparel, and pretty much anything you can put your logo on. This makes Sign Crafters a one-stop-shop for all your marketing needs.

Robin serves as the publicity chair for the Victoria Livestock Show as well as the South Texas Farm and Ranch Show. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Victoria, Texas, Inc., a former board member of the Victoria Regional Museum Association, the Victoria Fine Arts Association, and a founding member of the Victoria Professional Express Network.

Sarah Loest, Production Department Lead

Sarah began as a part-time assistant in vinyl production as she attended college. She earned her certificate as a respiratory therapist and is a full time RT at Post Acute Medical. But on her days away from the hospital, she runs the production department at Sign Crafters. Her skill and dedication make her a crucial part of the team.

Sarah serves in many capacities at the Victoria Livestock Show. She also helps to host the annual Victoria Crossroads Classic Steer and Heifer Show. She and her son Landon participate in many cattle shows across the state.

Jimmy Puentes, II

Jimmy is the newest to the business. He is picking up the skills daily. His attention to detail on vinyl projects is amazing. And he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty and sweating a bit when in fabrication and installation.
